Despite Howard County being the third wealthiest county in the United States, almost 50% of the Oakland Mills Middle School population is eligible for Free and Reduced Meals. Many of the families in our community face challenges in meeting the most basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing and utilities. Subsequently, there is little money left over for school supplies or enrichment activities. Students that do not have their most basic needs met are frequently not readily available for learning. Oakland Mills Middle School works hard to mitigate these needs as best as possible. Financial support from the community would help address these real-life obstacles and allow us to focus on doing our best to provide the highest quality education to our students.
