OMMS School: Vision and Mission

School Targets and Strategies

Vision:  Every student is inspired to succeed and empowered to excel.

Mission:  We cultivate a vibrant learning community that prepares students to thrive in a dynamic world.

Math Targets:

The percentage of students meeting the math MAP benchmark (January 2018) will increase from 17.9% to at least 20.9%

The percentage of students receiving FARMs services meeting the Math MAP benchmark will increase from 9.1%  to at least 14.1%  on the Winter Administration (January 2018).

Strategies (not to exceed three):

  1.      Professional Learning: In order to impact mathematics performance and fill instructional gaps, staff will engage in professional learning around NCTM Teaching Practice 3 (use and connect mathematical representations) and Teaching Practice 4 (facilitating meaningful mathematical discourse).  This will take place in both the school based setting and in the Cluster Wide Math Achievement Team setting.

2. Collaborative Planning: Teachers will collaboratively plan in content teams, utilizing a variety of planning and implementation structures that incorporate Teaching Practices 3 and 4, in order to provide equitable access to rigorous and worthwhile mathematics instruction.  This will occur both at the school level and in the Cluster Wide Math Achievement Team Setting.

3.  Reflective Practice: Teaching teams will engage in reflective discourse, based on data collected via a common monitoring tool focused on Teaching Practices 3 and 4, in order to improve the implementation of the Teaching Practices.  Reflective practice will also occur within the ongoing Cluster Wide Math Achievement Team data analysis and data protocols.
