OMMS School: Vision and Mission
School Targets and Strategies
Vision: Every student is inspired to succeed and empowered to excel.
Mission: We cultivate a vibrant learning community that prepares students to thrive in a dynamic world.
OMMS will increase from 36% to a minimum of 39% of students meeting the Reading Benchmark on MAP by the Winter Administration (January 2018). Students receiving FARMs services will increase from 17% to a minimum of 24% of students meeting the Reading Benchmark on MAP by the Winter Administration (January 2018).
Strategies (not to exceed three):
1. Professional Learning: In order to impact literacy performance and fill instructional gaps, staff will engage in professional learning that focuses on literacy in all curriculums, creating quality common assessments and cross-content instructional strategies specific to the areas of academic vocabulary and literacy perseverance. Staff will also engage families and students in learning experiences specific to building esteem and perseverance in literacy.
2. Collaborative Planning: Teachers will collaboratively plan in content teams and generate and reflect on common assessments, utilizing a variety of planning and implementation structures that incorporate consistent language and strategies across contents.
3. Reflective Practice: Teaching teams will engage in reflective discussions, based on data collected via a common monitoring tool focused on curriculum in order to improve the implementation and effectiveness of common strategies specific to academic vocabulary and literacy perseverance. Common assessment data needs to be utilized to inform and adjust day to day instruction to best meet the needs of students.
