Attendance Policy Fall Semester of SY 20-21

Attendance Policy: 

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 

Full Day Present - Student attended 2 or more periods  

Half Day Absent - Student attended only 1 period  

Full Day Absent - Student did not attend any periods 

Wednesday’s Period Attendance.  

Wednesday Period Attendance is determined by the previous four school days prior to that Wednesday, (Thurs, Fri, Mon, Tue)  

A student will be marked absent if they did not:  

·      attend class on any school day since the prior Wednesday OR 

·      submit an assignment to the teacher during the same time period. 

Absence Notes:  

Even during virtual learning absences must be reported. To report your child’s absence, please email the school at OMMSAbsence@hcpss.org by 8:30 a.m. 

On the day your child returns to virtual classroom, an explanatory note should be emailed to Ms. Johnson at  OMMSAbsence@hcpss.org indicating student’s full name, the date(s) and reason for the absence. A doctor’s note is required in cases of long-term absence (more than three days). HCPSS will adjust All Day codes as necessary based on parent notes.  

NOTE: Parents have 5 days to submit absence notes from day of returning back to school. 

Missing work: For excused absences, students will be provided an opportunity to complete any unfinished assignments given during the date(s) student was absent. For unreported or unexcused absences, student is not guaranteed to be provided a chance to complete any unfinished work provided during date(s) student was absent.  

Email Notification: Auto Emails showing the Daily Code are sent out for students marked absent in 1st Period. We can not monitor/adjust the Daily Codes prior to the notifications being sent out. However, adjustments will be made by attendance secretary Ms. Johnson at the end of the day everyday.
